What to bring on a yacht charter: the checklist

Everything you need for a perfect day on the water, and the few things to leave at home.

Bring

  • Photo ID for the booking holder, who must be 21 or older.
  • Reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
  • Swimsuit and a cover-up.
  • A towel (ask us whether your yacht provides them).
  • Soft-soled or bare feet. Many yachts ask guests to go barefoot on deck.
  • Food and drinks, unless you add catering. Cans and plastic are easier than glass.
  • Water. More than you think you need.
  • A light layer for the breeze on the way back at sunset.
  • Motion-sickness remedies if anyone in your group needs them.
  • A waterproof phone pouch for swimming and sandbar photos.
  • Crew gratuity. About 18% is customary; your quote says if your yacht requires a set amount.

Leave at home

  • Red wine, glitter, confetti, and self-tanner. They stain the upholstery and decks.
  • Hard-soled or black-soled shoes, which mark the deck.
  • Cigarettes. Smoking is not allowed; vapes on deck only.
  • Extra guests. Every yacht has a legal guest limit, and children count.

Yacht etiquette

  • Arrive 15 minutes before departure.
  • Follow the captain's instructions; safety comes first.
  • Keep the music friendly to the crew and other boats.
  • Take your trash back with you.

Want it all arranged? Add catering, champagne, decor, or a photographer to your request and we deliver it to the marina. See add-ons.
